David Villa wows students with meet-and-greet at English language school

After taking part in a pre-season match in Manchester against Brondby, professional football player and captain of the New York City Football Club David Villa stopped at Kaplan International’s English language school in Manchester to meet 10 lucky students.

The former FC Barcelona player and World Cup winner, who has been studying English with Kaplan in both Melbourne, Australia, and New York City, took time out of his busy schedule to speak to other English language students, sign autographs and take photos.

The 10 students who met Villa won an in-school competition in which they shared photos and stories of why they loved studying in Manchester. During the meet and greet, students spoke with him and asked questions, all in English.

He signed shirts and postcards and took photos with his fans. “He was really nice and friendly, and he tried to speak with all of us,” said Marta, a Kaplan student from Spain.
