Pumpkin Carving

Although pumpkin carving originally began in Ireland during the 19th century and was initially used as a method to warn off strange travellers, it has become a popular tradition for people to carve scary faces into pumpkins and place them in doors and windows at Halloween to scare away evil spirits. All around the world towns and villages hold pumpkin carving contests, where people are awarded prizes for the scariest and most creative carved pumpkins. Think you can win a prize for your pumpkin carving skills? Then make sure you enter our competitions at these Kaplan schools:

Dia de los Muertos

For UK students, perhaps our biggest event to take part in this Halloween is Kaplan’s Dia de Los Muertos party, which is held in London’s ‘Garage’ clubs. The Halloween party celebrates the positive Mexican attitude to death, and holding 1500 people from Kaplan schools across the country, it is one of the biggest Kaplan parties of the year.

Fancy Dress Competition

Seeing as fancy dress costumes are one of the biggest and most popular parts of Halloween, our Kaplan schools across the world have decided to throw a number of fancy dress competitions. Whether you’re dressing up in scary costumes, covering yourself in cuts and bruises, or covering your clothes in fake blood, join in the spooky fun at your Kaplan school and compete against your friends to win a prize for the best costume!
