How to study diving at Kaplan

If you’re thinking of studying in Australia and want to enjoy the great outdoors, the glorious sunshine and beautiful beaches, our college in Cairns has the opportunity of a lifetime for you with our English plus Diving program!

Cairns is home to the famous Great Barrier Reef, which is a paradise for diving. It is often described as a must-see for anyone travelling to Australia as it is a very important part of the country’s history and culture. It has a huge variety of wildlife, which includes whales, turtles, dolphins, more than 1,500 types of fish and 400 coral species.

With the English plus Diving program, students can spend 3 days and 2 nights living on a boat while receiving lessons from diving experts. At the end of the 2 weeks, students become certified divers themselves.

The course includes:

  • Full classroom and pool training with expert instructors
  • Use of top quality diving equipment
  • 4 training dives and 4-5 pleasure dives
  • A night dive (weather permitting)
  • A PADI Certificate
  • A PADI Open Water Manual
  • Diver log book

This program is perfect for students who are looking to study English for a short term. For the remaing part of the program, students take lessons equivalent to Vacation English.

Around 100 students study English plus Diving every year and always describe it as a really rewarding experience.

To apply for this course, you must be able to swim 200 metres, or 300 metres with mask, snorkel and fins, and be able to tread or float in water for 10 minutes.
You must also complete a dive medical (in Australia).
