Life @ Kaplan: Bestival Festival
Going to a festival is a very British summer tradition. From the great music to camping and the mud, there are lots of fun reasons to go and every year thousands of people attend at least one!
This summer, 8 Kaplan students from our UK schools got the chance to experience this tradition at the famous Bestival festival on the Isle of Wight after winning a competition on the Kaplan Venezuela Facebook page. When our team found out that they were going, they could not resist and joined in with the fun too! We asked a few of them to share their experience with us.
Rob, our Social Media Manager is a big music fan and enjoyed the variety of acts performing: “Bestival was a musical feast! My favorite acts were Stevie Wonder, Sigur Ros and Beardy Man. If you want to combine relaxing, dancing like crazy, listening to famous bands, listening to alternative bands, and having lots of fun with thousands of other people, Bestival is the place for you!”
Rosalia, our Spanish Country Manager really enjoyed the atmosphere: “We made the most of the festival by chilling out between gigs, sunbathing, walking around and dancing under the sun. The people there were so much fun and really wanted to enjoy every moment – families even brought their children with them! One of the things that surprised me the most was how much British people enjoy dressing up - they know how to have fun and laugh at themselves!”
Claire is the Social Organiser for our London schools. She really liked the campsite! "We had a great bunch of students with us and we were all good friends by the end of the first night. The festival itself was a great idea and something the students really loved to be a part of. I think they were thoroughly impressed with the tents we had and how close we were to all of the events. I know most of us loved the fact our campground had a private bar which was open for an hour after the festival had finished for the night, not to mention the nicer bathroom facilities!"
Juan is a student at our Covent Garden school. He enjoyed using his English to speak to new people. "My experience at Bestival was great. I found a new and fun way to practice English in a fun way and I spoke to lots of people there. I also made friends with all the other students and staff members who went! I hadn't been to a festival before, but I have been told that it is the best one of the year! I am so grateful to Kaplan for giving us a wonderful experience."
