Life @ Kaplan: Brisbane Photo Competition Winners

Students at our Brisbane school have been hard at work taking photos of their adopted city and sharing them with the world.

Brisbane students were asked to share their photos of the city  in the "Click Brisbane" photo contest on Facebook. Students shared pictures of Australian wildlife, photos of the waterfront, and even a rainbow!

There were 36 great entries, but there could only be one winner ... Henrique Dias Do of Brazil.

The photo (below) is of The Wheel of Brisbane, located in the popular Southbank area. It has lots of restaurants, parks, theatres, a weekly market and even a swimming pool!

Henrique said that he took the photo after a BBQ with friends and that the Big Wheel looked so beautiful at night that he was inspired to photograph it.

Henrique, also the captain of KIC Brisbane's football team, won a day trip to Moreton Island, a beautiful sandy island where visitors can go sand tobogganing, snorkeling, diving, bird watching, feeding dolphins, whale watching, fishing and parasailing.

"I don’t take lots of photos but when I see something that deserves a good picture, I try to take the best photo."

Henrique said he decided to enter the competition because he believed in himself. "I thought I could win this competition although I didn't know what the prize was going to be."

He said that the best thing about the competition was "the prize, obviously, but also the feeling when you see all of your friends liking your photo, which I am very grateful for."
