Life @ Kaplan: Traveling in the North (of England)

When most people focus on London, it's easy to forget how many other fun and exciting cities there are in England.

Two KIC students in Manchester had the opportunity to discover two different northern cities and wrote about their days sightseeing.

Leonardo Dalmarco de Miranda, from Brazil, spent a day in Blackpool, England.

One of my travels with Kaplan was to Blackpool, which is a town located north west of Manchester and on the seaside.

It is such an amusing beach, with lots of places to have fun, such as an amusement park, where there is a huge roller coaster on Pleasure Beach. It is also a very good place to enjoy the sun on the shore.

When our excursion went there, we walked along the coast enjoying the refreshing sea breeze and the relaxing view of the Irish Sea.

Then our social programmer Emma took us to the heights of the Blackpool Tower Eye.

We watched a 4D short film with a background about Blackpool and the Tower. On the top of the tower we stood on the glass floor and we were able to have a wonderful view of the seaside and the town.

Blackpool has been a resort town for centuries.

In order to visit a different place of England, with it has such a hospitable population and a several options of fun, Blackpool is a very good choice to go with my new friends from Kaplan, and only 1 hour by train from Manchester.

Don’t spend your time only with books and in the classrooms. The best way to improve your English is socializing with your new friends.

Ignacio Izquierdo, from Spain, visited Liverpool, England.

How can any single day become a memory forever?

I had always dreamed of being able to know the city where the legendary Beatles were born. Thanks to the school, I could visit the city of Liverpool and at the same time make new friends.

Arriving at Liverpool Central station, we walked to the harbor. Thanks to the friendly guide that accompanied us, we knew a little more about the secrets of the city, such as the Cathedral, Chinatown, shopping district, the port, some museums and of course, the story of The Beatles.

At the end of that wonderful trip, we had some free time to visit the various sites on our own and learned a little more about my new friends. The truth is that we did not stop laughing the whole time.

Our last stop was the world-famous Cavern Pub, the first place where started playing the four most famous members of the group on the planet. It was a great place, with a special magic, where every day musicians play live.

In the afternoon, we took the train back to the beloved Manchester City, but nothing would be the same in the following days.

I would recommend these kinds of trips to everyone, because they give you the opportunity to make new friends, live new experiences and of course visit some of the most beautiful places in the United Kingdom.

If you could visit any cities in the UK, which would they be?
